The Statutes of the International Association on Self-propagating High-temperature Synthesis (SHS-AS)
- The SHS-AS is a structural unit of the Institute of Topical Associations (ITA) of the Academy of Ceramics.
- Its basic task is maintenance of all kinds of activities in the field of SHS, namely R&D, education, industrialization, commercialization, etc. In the focus of the SHS-AS are all kinds of ceramics-related activities.
- The SHS-AS
- holds International Symposia on SHS each two years
- assists in organizing other international meetings
- issues the bibliographical bulletin on SHS
- stimulates popularization of Int. J. SHS
- support of writing text-books, monographs, handbooks, etc.
- supports writing text-books, monographs, handbooks, etc.
- popularizes success in the area of SHS
- establishes awards for outstanding achievements in the field of SHS
- The SHS-AS is composed of individual and corporate members. An individual member may be an expert in the field of SHS who has not less than three patents and/or papers in international journals. Corporate member may be an organization including more than five experts on SHS and subscripted to the Int. J. SHS
- Leading experts (at least from 10 countries) are the founders of the SHS-AS (no more than 2 from each country).
- The President heads the SHS-AS and pursues the strategic lines of the development of SHS and the SHS-AS, takes the most important decisions, signs the documents of basic value. The Executive Director is responsible for financial aspects, carries out the operative management of the SHS-AS activity as well as its administration, and works in tight contact with the President and the ITA Leadership.
- The Council of Founders is the supreme body of the SHS-AS. It holds meetings once a year to hear reports of the President and Executive Director, to accept the plan for the nearest future, to ratify the budget. Special sessions of the Council of Founders are possible under the decision of the President. Some decisions may be made by the Council of Founders via interrogation by fax or e-mail.
- The first President of SHS-AS is elected for a 4-year term by the Council of Founders. Next President of SHS-AS will be elected for each 4-year term by all members of SHS-AS. The Executive Director is appointed by the President for the period of his own election. The Executive Director is responsible for the administrative matter as agreed with the President of the SHS-AS.
- SHS-AS members pay entrance fees and annual dues whose size will be specified by the Council of Founders of SHS-AS.
- The SHS-AS has its own blank for correspondence and a seal. Its affiliation with ITA of the Academy of Ceramics shall be indicated.
- The SHS-AS has its own budget. Financial sources may come from:
- contributions from individual or corporate members
- sales of editions and other incomes
- investments from charity funds
- any other source.
- The SHS-AS establishes awards:
- Golden medal For outstanding contribution in the development of SHS theory and practice
- Badge of honor and Diploma For outstanding organizational activities. The awards are presented at the International Symposia on SHS each two years.
- The SHS-AS adheres to the Statutes and works in accordance to main documents of the Academy of Ceramics.
- The SHS-AS ceases its status as an ITA member on decision of the Academy Council in case of its unsatisfactory work or for other reasons.
